Joseph L. Clark, Jr

Environmental Services Worker / Georgetown University Hospital / DC

Joseph L. Clark, Jr., an Environmental Services Worker at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington for 14 years, is starting his third term as a Union Delegate.

“As a former Washington, DC police officer, I have always been interested in law and justice,” he says. “I want to help people and make sure that their rights are not being violated and that they are getting a fair shake.”

He says that his proudest experience as a Delegate was helping Eola Byrd win back her job. “With the Union, I helped her from the very beginning until she got her job back,” Joe Clark says. “I was in law enforcement for 11 years. I never lost a case back then and I wasn’t going to lose this one.

“Management sometimes needs to be reminded of worker’s rights. Before I became Delegate, I saw people getting a raw deal and I saw things that were not right and not legal. I help other employees who don’t know about their rights and try to educate them so they can help themselves and others.

“Helping my brothers and sisters like Eola Byrd makes me feel good. I hope to be a part of this Union for a long time as a member and Delegate!”
