Contract Victory in New Jersey!

After six months without a contract, and one hour before 1199SEIU workers were to strike on December 18, the rank and file negotiating committee from Amboy, Teaneck and Manhattanview Nursing Homes declared victory in their struggle for a fair contract.
A tentative agreement was reached with nursing home operator Michael Konig, who finally conceded to wage and benefit gains after
facing an unflappable group of 300 caregivers who stood strong together and put pressure on management to treat the workers fairly.
The three year agreement includes a three percent wage increase for each year of the contract; additional raises for Manhattan View workers to bring them up to the union standard, a $250 bonus in the first year; an agreement to pay into the union's health and welfare plan; and no givebacks on other benefits including the union pension fund.
